Intertextual references I included in my video:
- Wes Anderson style title - this is useful as it is less conventional and sets the tone of an arthouse piece of media, which focuses on a peculiar subject and is expressive through the use of pops of colour.
- Focus on young children - Jungle 'Platoon'. This is unconventional, however I thought it would be interesting to do, owing to the fact that there is a sense of playfulness and innocence through the subjects being children, as well as them acting independently, as seen through the surreal driving part of the music video.
- Reference to Bob Dylan's 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' through the use of signs to present a narrative.
- Reference to old cinema through the use of signs as a way to communicate
- For inspiration when filming in water, I looked to 'The Big Blue', which portrayed an otherworldly element of emotion through the focus on water in comparison to a chaotic, daily life.
Intertextual referenced in website:
- Wes Anderson style title
- I took inspiration for the moving background from artists I like, such as King Krule and Gus Dapperton. Their websites are modern and interesting, while also being user friendly and relating to their content.
