REFLECTION AND PROCESS OF CREATING MY MUSIC VIDEO

At first, my plan for my video was to create one mainly focusing on Indigo rollerskating in a bright outfit. I thought this would be a good video, owing to that of Jungle's 'Platoon' , where they also focus on a young girl. After making the storyboard and deciding on where to film and the outfit, I attempted to film it. However, issues came up, such as the public being in the way of what I was trying to film, the heat, and Indigo's confidence.
I therefore had to come up with another idea over summer. I decided on a much more equal focus between Milo and Indigo, on their trip to the beach on a hot day.
When filming, I had to accommodate the situation each time due to the fact that I was filming children. I found this difficult at first, however I then worked out ways in which to make filming more enjoyable for them. for example, there were frequent breaks and treats each time we finished filming a section.
Due to the fact that I was filming with children without previous experience, I decided on a basic format of them moving from one place to another. This then progressed to the different places they would go, things they would do, and things they would like to do.
One part which challenged my filming abilities was when I was filming the end, when they are in the sea. For this, I had to use a case to protect my phone camera, however it often misted up, therefore I had to partly assume what I was filming. Owing to this, I decided to create more footage than what I had previously planned as then I would be able to have more of a variety of shots, and be able to focus more on how I could present what was happening rather than shot duration.
I really enjoyed filming in the car. For this, Milo was sitting on the lap of an adult, who was driving very slowly around a safe area. I found that this was not only easier to film than I had expected, but also more enjoyable for everyone involved, therefore making it even more gratifying to work with in both production and post-production.
At times I found post-production difficult, but when I researched more into the format of a music video, I was able to refer back to other pieces of media in order to inspire me when thinking of shot duration and any effects.
I also decided to include a promotional video for my music video, as I was inspired by the use of this technique by more well known and popular musicians, and felt as if I could really expand my learning trough the exploration of an approach to advertising my video.
