Before creating my webpage, I researched other musician’s websites.
I found that they used techniques such as bold capital san serif fonts, bold
contrasting colours, and a video playing as the background.
I then decided to make a plan for what I wanted my webpage
to look like. I did this for both my home page and additional page. On the home
page, I made sure to include a menu, title, social media and advertisement for the
new album. Then for the additional page I chose for it to be a news page. On this,
I included a menu, header and posts. These posts include several links
to audio-visual media, such as a teaser for the music video, reactions, behind
the scenes, and the music video itself. I also included tour dates, a written interview with Bjørn Torske, the music video announcement, and a review from
Pitchfork. I decided on doing these posts as I felt they were a realistic representation
of what would be on an actual website for a musician. The menu on my website includes
‘home’, ‘news’, ‘tour’ and ‘merch’, I decided to make the ‘tour’ and ‘merch’
pages open, but not have any information on. I also chose to include a video as
a background as I was influenced by my research. This video plays continually
on repeat on either of my pages.
During the making of my website, I enjoyed experimenting
with the background, colours and information to include. I found the audio-visual
aspect harder as I was not sure what to include. I decided to include a short
video, being the teaser, where I simply reused material from the music video
with a release date for the actual music video. I chose to do this, even though
it is more common with larger and more popular musicians, as I wanted to experiment
with the making of pre-release material. I also included a reactions video. I
decided to use the focuses of the music video as I had easier access to them and there
would be more of a connection between their viewing and experience on the
making of the music video than if I had simply used strangers.
